Why did Anakin attack Obi-Wan from a losing position? Christensen has his own theory
In recent years, Hayden Christensen has returned to the role of Anakin Skywalker in “Star Wars” and often gives interviews about his character, including his time in the prequels. Recently, he was asked why Anakin attacked Obi-Wan during their duel on Mustafar when his former master had the higher ground. As we know, this led to Anakin’s defeat in the fight.
Christensen attributed Anakin’s behavior to arrogance, stemming from his young age. He went on to add that, in his view, Skywalker wanted to replicate what Obi-Wan had done in his duel with Darth Maul in “The Phantom Menace.” As we recall, Kenobi saved himself from falling into the abyss and surprised his opponent by jumping over him. Christensen suggests that Anakin had heard about this victory for years and believed he could replicate Kenobi’s success.
