Actors Who Survived Serious Accidents

Here are the actors who survived serious accidents. It’s interesting to see if any of these stories will surprise you.

Matthew Broderick

Before Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker got married, the actor was dating Dirty Dancing star, actress Jennifer Grey. In 1987, shortly before the premiere of Dirty Dancing, the couple was involved in a tragic car accident in Northern Ireland. Broderick’s car collided head-on with another vehicle, resulting in the deaths of the occupants of the second car. Broderick spent over a month in the hospital, suffering from a concussion, broken ribs and leg, and collapsed lung. Grey, after 30 years from the accident, had to undergo serious spinal surgery. Broderick faced charges, but ultimately the case ended with a fine of $175.

Miles Teller

Have you ever wondered why Miles Teller has scars on his face? It’s all because of a car accident. In 2007, Miles Teller was a passenger in his friend’s car, which lost control at a speed of 130 km/h. The vehicle rolled over eight times. Teller was thrown out of the car through the front windshield. He was found far from the car, unconscious, covered in blood. The actor underwent months of rehabilitation after the accident, and the medical expenses were so high that he had to sue his friend’s insurance company, who caused the accident. As a result of the incident, Miles Teller underwent numerous surgeries. He had damage to his face and neck, with 20 staples inserted into his arm. Pieces of gravel embedded in his face were also removed. However, some minor fragments still remain to this day, as there were concerns that further intervention in his face could be harmful to the scars.

John Travolta

For many years, John Travolta has held a pilot’s license and has been interested in airplanes and helicopters. The actor also collects aircraft. On one occasion, his passion turned into a nightmare. In 1992, Travolta was piloting his Gulfstream N728T at night when there was an electrical system failure on the plane. During the emergency landing, he narrowly avoided colliding in mid-air with a USAir Boeing 727, which is attributed to a risky decision made by the air traffic controller.

Jeremy Renner

Jeremy Renner was hit by a snowplow while trying to help his 27-year-old nephew, Alex Fries, free a pickup truck stuck in the snow. The actor was pulled under the plow, and the machine rolled over him, causing injuries to his torso, limbs, face, and head. Renner was paralyzed and had more than 30 broken bones. He was in critical condition when he was taken to the hospital. Today, he is walking again, fully recovered, and returning to his profession.

Alison Brie

Alison Brie, at the age of seven, was involved in an accident that caused her to lose her vision. After a strong impact from falling on a playground, Alison suffered a concussion. Frightened, Brie’s father placed her in the car and rushed to the hospital. On the way to the hospital, Brie began to lose her vision and panicked. As a result of this attack, her father lost control of the car and caused an accident, exacerbating Brie’s condition. When they arrived at the hospital, Brie was told that she would likely lose her vision permanently if it did not return within 12 hours. Fortunately, her vision returned 10 hours later. The accident did not leave any lasting effects on her health.

Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio narrowly escaped death twice during one trip! The actor shared this experience on The Ellen Show. DiCaprio was traveling to Russia to attend the International Tiger Forum in St. Petersburg. It was supposed to be a pleasant flight, but DiCaprio noticed that the plane’s engine exploded. Describing it as the scariest moment of his life, Leo said, “I looked out the window and the entire engine exploded into a fireball. It seemed like only I saw it, it was a burning fireball. Everyone there was Russian passengers. I felt like I had died and gone to heaven, no one said anything. The stewardess came out and said, ‘Looks like we have a little problem here.'” The actor said that the plane had to dump fuel for 45 minutes before turning back for an emergency landing. DiCaprio boarded a second plane, which, after struggling with extremely strong winds, had to make an unplanned stop in Helsinki to refuel.

Harrison Ford

Harrison Ford is a lover of airplanes. Unfortunately, in 2015, his passion for these machines turned into a nightmare. During a flight in his vintage World War II-era airplane, Ford noticed that his engine was damaged. The malfunction turned out to be serious. The actor was forced to make an emergency landing, or rather crash-land, on a golf course in Santa Monica. After hitting the field, the actor was taken to the hospital. Ford was very lucky because he only suffered some fractures and cuts to his head.

Morgan Freeman

It seems that there are indeed quite a few accidents involving airplanes or cars in this compilation. Therefore, it may not surprise you that in the case of Morgan Freeman’s accident, it also involves one of these elements. Morgan Freeman was involved in a car accident in August 2008 when his car veered off the road and rolled multiple times. Freeman was extricated from the wreckage using the Jaws of Life and then airlifted to a nearby hospital. His left hand never fully healed after the accident and remained partially paralyzed.
