The Apple TV+ streak continues. The fantastic quality of productions made for the platform is appreciated by viewers, critics, as well as members of various academies awarding awards in the field of cinema and television. For two years in a row, the service boasted the highest rated content among all streaming platforms. And although HBO must be congratulated on a very strong entry into 2023, the list of new series allows us to assume that Apple will repeat its success.

In the first half of 2023, e.g. award-winning Ted Lasso will return. There will also be several new series, in which we will see, among others, Harrison Ford, Meryl Streep, Edward Norton, Vincent Cassel and Eva Green. They will tell about psychology, ecology, politics, love, passion and space colonization. We have selected 5 titles that have a chance to conquer television in 2023.

1. SHRINKING

Ted Lasso co-creators Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent) decided to step off the field and join forces with Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother) to create a comedy series about a grieving psychotherapist who one day abandons rules, professional ethics and… begins to tell customers what he really thinks. This starts an avalanche of changes not only in the lives of his charges, but also in his own.

Joking about therapy in a world where people are ashamed to ask for help from psychologists and do not see the difference between gossip with a friend and a visit to a specialist is quite a risky business. However, after what we saw in Ted Lasso, one can hope that the creators will approach the subject with great sensitivity this time and that Shrinking will bring much more good than harm. The trailer suggests that it will be a warm, funny and positive story about a lost man who rediscovers the taste of life. If that’s still not enough to convince you to watch this series, you may be tempted by the fact that, alongside Segel, Harrison Ford stars in one of his first ever (!) series roles.

PREMIERE: January 27, 2023

2. HELLO TOMORROW!

Mad Men meets Lost in Space. In Billy Crudup’s (The Morning Show) series, the cosmic, futuristic theme is dressed in a delightful retro costume, creating an intriguing story about the past and the future at the same time. The main character, played by Crudup himself, is one of the traveling salesmen dealing in real estate in outer space. His talent and belief in a better tomorrow inspire both clients and colleagues. It soon turns out, however, that the dream he lives and sells to others is not as beautiful as he thinks.

The mysterious plot, disturbing atmosphere and unobvious combination of retro style with futuristic themes suggest that Hello Tomorrow! can fill the gap left by Severance.

PREMIERE: February 17, 2023

3. LIAISON

Suspense, action, espionage, political intrigue, great passion and love put to the test – all this can be found in the first (partly) French-language series of Apple TV+. We will also find excellent acting in it, because the main roles in Liaison are played by Vincent Cassel and Eva Green. If you like spy thrillers where the stakes are high, you can’t miss this production in your series plans this year.

4. EXTRAPOLATIONS

Meryl Streep, Sienna Miller, Kit Harington, Edward Norton, Diane Lane, Gemma Chan, David Schwimmer, Keri Russell, Marion Cotillard, Forest Whitaker, Tobey Maguire – this is just the beginning of the list of stars that we will admire in Extrapolations. And the Scott Z. Burns series is worth watching not only for the cast! His new work will tell the story of the near future, in which humanity must face the consequences of drastic climate change. We will follow eight interwoven stories about everyday choices of more or less ordinary people, on whom the fate of our planet depends.

5. JANE

Jane is a series that, like Extrapolations, will focus on ecology. However, he will talk about important matters in a completely different way, because in children’s language, to inspire the youngest generation. Based on the work of Dr. Jane Goodall, the film follows a nine-year-old budding ecologist on a mission to save endangered species. With the help of her unlimited imagination, the title character embarks on a fairy-tale journey around the world to achieve her goal.

Ava Louise Murchison (Reacher) will play the role of Jane. Mason Blomberg, Tamara Almeida and Dan Abramovici co-star.
